Hello

We're Mike and Deb Turner, and this is our blog. The idea here is to provide anyone and everyone with an easy way to see what we're up to. We'll be posting pictures regularly from our various gigs and whatnot. Thanks very much for checking in on us, please leave us a comment, let us know who you are and what you think.

Angie & Zach

Another great couple!  Angie & Zach made the increasingly popular decision to see each other before the ceremony and we are HUGE fans of this decision!  Before you say no, let me tell you why.  The number one benefit is that it puts the bride at ease as soon as she sees the groom.  There is so much happening on your wedding day and it is all very exciting but it can get stressful and almost every bride gets those nerves working!  But when she sees that groom . . . oh it makes all the difference!  And then they get to spend that much more of the day together.  The second big benefit of course is being able to do all the photos before the ceremony.  More often than not, it is actually the groom that vetoes this idea but we always recommend that you take a few minutes to yourself and have the bride walk in and see the groom by herself so that you get that much anticipated experience (this also provides an opportunity to get any ugly cries out of the way if they’re going to happen!)  So that being said, it is completely up to you and we will go with whatever you decide!

Angie and Zach were married at Grace Presbyterian Church and had their reception at the Westlake Club.  A big congratulations to them!  We loved being your wedding photographers and hope that you have as much fun in your marriage as you had at your wedding!

Jessica & Josh’s Wedding

We few weeks ago we drove down to Beeville to shoot Jessica and Josh’s wedding photography.  We started mid-afternoon with Jessica’s bridal portrait photography at the beautiful  Beeville Art Museum in downtown Beeville before heading over to the church.  After the ceremony Jessica and Josh met everyone at the Beeville Country Club for their reception which was full of color and personality.  They even brought some delicious cupcakes down with them from Ooh La La Sweets in Katy!  (my favorite was chocolate cinnamon) Congrats Josh & Jess!  Thanks for letting us capture your big day!

eShoot at A&M

Kerry and James met us at the bluebonnets fields at Old Baylor near Brenham for a few shots before heading over to A&M. Deb, Kerry, and James enjoyed showing me around campus and reminiscing about their time at A&M. We had some phenomenal light to work with at the Century Tree. I’d never seen the Century Tree before, and it is quite something. We had a lot of fun with Kerry and James and we’re looking forward to being their wedding photographers this summer. Deb and I went over to Zapatos for some nachos after the shoot, although we weren’t up to splitting the full trashcan lid order by ourselves!

i wanna grow old with you . . .

We loved being Angela & Kevin’s wedding photographers!  The wedding had so much personality and you could tell how much of themselves they poured into every little detail.  From the traditional Chinese tea ceremony to the reading of Adam Sandler’s “I Wanna Grow Old With You” during the wedding ceremony Angela & Kevin wanted this evening to reflect who they are and how much they love each other.  We started the day with group photos at Discovery Green and then took the trolley over to a new and very cool ceremony location called Patio on Mercer.  After the wedding we headed to the House of Blues for the reception which started with a Chinese Dragon and martial arts performance.  All in all, one of the coolest weddings we have ever photographed!

Do you like me? Check yes or no.

What a fun couple!  One of our favorite things about our job as wedding photographers is that we get to work with people that we would want to hang out with anyway.  Kelly & Jeff and so cute and in love and fun to be around.  They actually met in grade school where they were each others first boyfriend and girlfriend.  Kelly said she remembers passing a note down to Jeff that said, “Do you like me?  Check yes or no.”  I love that!  They went their separate ways for years after that but met again in college and now they are getting married!

Ashley & James

Have you ever been around two people that are sickeningly in love?  I mean like unaware that other people are in the room, head over heals in love?  We shoot weddings almost every weekend but every once in a while we run across a couple like this and Ashley and James are one of them.  They are so cute to watch becasue they are so sweet to one another and so excited to be together!  Ashley and James were married at Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church and had their reception at the Braeburn Country Club.  Congratulations guys!  Your love for one another is inspiring!

Jaclyn & Chad Wedding- Wedding in a Week Winners!

Last Friday we shot Jaclyn and Chad’s wedding as a part of the Wedding in a Week giveaway. If you haven’t heard about it, we teamed up with a lot of other great people to give one couple a free wedding. The couple submitted their story to The Houston Wedding Showcase, a great bridal show we participate in, who put the event together and brought all the other sponsors in on the action. We obviously did the wedding photography, and there were a couple dozen other vendors who donated their services to make Jaclyn and Chad’s day perfect. Hotel Sorella donated their facilities and catered the reception, giving the wedding a super modern look. Ashley Fuentes at Event Solutions did a wonderful job of organizing the event and coordinating all of the vendors to bring the whole day off without a hitch. We enjoyed working with the videographers, KS Video, very much, and we can’t wait to see their video. There were scads of other vendors, including; Men’s Warehouse, Weddings in Bloom, Bistro Alex, Lasting Images photo booths, King’s Crossing Travel, Memories of Today stationary, Wedding Wire, Mix 96.5, Houston’s Channel 55, JM Productions DJs, Sweet Delights wedding cakes, The Princess Bridal dresses, Monarch Limousines, Celebrity China & Crystal, Weddings Performed wedding officiant, Scentsy candles, Water 2 Wine, and Bridal Dolls by Simone.  Houston’s Channel 55 will be airing a short segment about the Wedding in Week event on Thursday March 11 between 6AM and 9AM during the Daily Buzz.

We got started very early (5:30AM!), so everyone was dragging a little bit at first, but after a few cups of coffee everyone got into the swing of things. We truly enjoyed being a part of Jaclyn and Chad’s special day. They and their sweet family’s were a pleasure to be around. These guys have been together a long time, and it was plain to see that their family and friends were just as excited about their wedding as the happy couple.

Hair and Makeup started promptly at 5:30AM, so early, in fact, that everyone was a little loopy, as you can see!

Tiffany and Montague’s Wedding

Last Weekend we had a blast shooting Tiffany and Mo’s wedding at the Sweetwater Country Club. Unfortunately, the sun hid behind the clouds all day, but at least we didn’t get any rain or freezing temperatures! Tiff and Mo didn’t let a few clouds put a damper on their wedding. I don’t know if anything could have put a damper on the party for these two; they seem to have fun no matter what. You may remember how much fun their Engagement photography shoot at Discovery Green was last summer. We enjoyed working Tiffany and Mo and getting to know their friends and family. We’re so happy that Tiff and Mo chose us to be their wedding photographers!

Stacey & Jeff

Stacey and Jeff ’s wedding was a few weeks ago at Messiah Lutheran Church, a church where her grandparents were charter members and her parents met each other in children’s Sunday school.  I love hearing the stories from parents and grandparents about the history their family has and the traditions they are carrying on!  This is such an endearing family that made us feel like we were a part of them and that makes our job feel so special!  Their reception was at the Westlake Club and it was one good party!  I often forget to post bridal portraits so I am including a couple of Stacey’s from Hotel Granduca; a gorgeous location for a shoot!

a downtown shoot . . . downtown katy that is

we had a great time with these guys and their pups!  dogs are always an interesting variable to add to a shoot but these 2 were very well behaved and even posed for their pictures.  we started the shoot at on old train car in downtown katy and then made our way down the tracks to explore and the great colors and textures that this setting had to offer.  like most of our couples josh and jess showed up saying they weren’t “good at having their pictures taken,” but they loosened up quickly and really let their personalities show.  we are looking forward to shooting their wedding in a couple of months in beeville!
